This commission required an extension to an existing house from the 70's to be developed on the neighbouring and narrow block of land. As this is the final house in a row of terraced houses it was necessary to keep the design within the aesthetics of this street.
On the ground floor the living space of the existing house was doubled and the room is complimented with a new open fire place. Above this is a split level independent apartment that is accessed separately via a newly developed side entrance.
The open floor plan of this apartment includes a spiral staircase. The house and apartment are opened to the garden using large windows, and their logical placement in the design has provided for additional natural light at all times of the day.
To give the building its own character the exterior has been completed in highly insulated plaster and durable zinc roof cladding.
